Contentment

After reading Xiaxue's blog, I can fully empathasize with her feelings about how one tends to link life's achievements with academic excellence. I was once a victim in our SG context. Now, in my 30s, I have come to terms with what my brains are and am happy with what I have now. A blissful marriage is enough for me to undermine my loss in career excellence so far. It is enough for me to wake up with a smile on my face as my hubby plants a kiss on my warm cheeks. Contented.

Guess who I met?

As I was on my way to the laundry, met Nicholas and Kenta coming out of the nursery. He is 3 years old now, still shy to reply. It was then he knew about my pregnancy. We went for a walk with Kenta on his newly bought bicycle in the garden nearby. Talked about babies and stuff. Went over to his apartment after that and he lent me a couple of books on pregnancy and babies. Appreciate whatever he hands over as I have practically close to none myself.

He is very sure that we will be able to cope on our own with our baby in Oct. Thanks for his assurance. Felt more pacified.

Our tickets back to SG is available. Waiting for our green light for confirmation to purchase. I think I need to see parents and parents-in-law once before delivery - to be fair to them. As for trip to Phuket, not sure if I will go eventually, depending on my condition.

It's decided

After much contemplation, we have decided to give birth to baby in Tokyo. We would manage things on our own without parental help. Getting catered food and DH will do household chores on weekends. We are both flying back to SG in July. I will be staying there for a month at least, yuppie! I look forward to be with my parents. Haven't been by their side for long ever since I started working I feel. DH also seems more settled now that we have made this decision else it is affecting his concentration at work.

I think it is a pretty good arrangement though I am not too sure quite what to expect since this is going to be my first baby and born abroad to add to the excitement.

Wild guessing about baby's gender again now that we have the u/s.

Our 3rd gynae's appointment

21st May, 2005 marks our 3rd gynae's appointment. As usual, we are the first patient in the queue. We prefer to get it done and over so that we can concentrate on other things in the day. Gynae's wife is around too which is rare. Guess one of the nurses is off. The results from the blood tests are all right giving us peace of mind. Though there is a minor infection which can be cleared with application of cream for a week. Phew!
An ultrascan was performed and we saw baby kicking his/her feet a lot! Poor him/her has such little space in a tiny bag of amniotic fluid. Contrary to my imagination that there is a lot of space since my tummy is pretty big now.
Baby is about 10 cm now and can hear well now.
Had a long talk with gynae's wife and today's bill came up to 12500yen - the most expensive so far.

Shopping in Ikebukuro

Couldn't stand being at home whole day so asked Jun out to Ikebukuro to shop for her children's J phone. They are crazy over V902SH. I can see why so as I love it too at first sight. It was a great bargain at Bicarmera going for just 7800yen but no stock. Elsewhere are selling at 22000yen. So, they have to wait for stock. My phone is 1 year 7months meaning I can change in 5 months' time. By then, I believe there will be new 3G phones coming out and maybe I will get one back to SG.

I bought a black summer hat for myself. Jun treated me to Indian food at west exit. Rather authentic taste and I like the tandoori chicken and nan best! Oh! the nan is huge!

My tummy is showing obviously. Still feeling good except get thirsty very easily. I can gulp much water!

Kyoto/Nara/Osaka trip with parents

I had waited in anticipation of our trip with parents. Can't believe that it's over and done in 10 days! In Kyoto, We love Byodoyin Temple best. Food-wise, Osaka's best. Nara simply boosts the biggest Buddha in Japan. Dad and Mum had enjoyed themselves very much. I can see that they had enjoyed themselves though they were reluctant to travel initially. They snapped so many photos and dad even bought a video camera specially for this trip. I am trying to convince him to come again to Tokyo/Okinawa. It's now or never since we are packing our bags for good next year. Mum seems to have attention deficit disorder or being too "bochap" about conversations. Dad is still a better person to talk to. It has been all these years. Throughout the trip, I had no problems walking long distances. In fact, I feel so good after all the exercise and am yearning to walk even after coming back.

Heard from Serene that Wei Kwan and Lay See have got another baby boy.

GK is not looking forward to starting work but still reality is reality.
